I also love the stories behind a song or an album. One thing has helped me to learn a lot of stuff around The Beatles is Macca-central's section "Today in Beatle History". I visit this great web site since 2002 or 2003 and I remember connecting every single day to print the current day's events untill I got them all, yeah an entire year connecting everyday until I got some kind of Beatles' diary to say so. I'm so thankful. I even remember finding in another site the same stories but not only compressed to the Beatles' years, I mean, the stories were from their solo years as well but sadly this web site no longer exists.

When performing live, Paul tells many annecdotes that are hard to find in another places. I remember hearing the story of Michelle and Driving rain when just when I saw him in concert, those bits never appear in his live DVDs.

I'd love to hear the story of Back seat of my car, anyone knows it? But yeah, that's for another thread.

It was broadcast here in the UK on the 'Biography Channel' on Nov 25th 2001. It's a very good Macca documentary and judging by the date of broadcast, it's probably promoting the "Driving Rain" album.

After a few more listenings to this song I must say I like it. Of course it s not a new Hey Jude or Long and Winding road but that s not really the point. It s a beatifully executed ballad with words that perfectly fits the mood of the song. The whole introspective, reflective feelings the song generate would have been perfect on Chaos that is, my opinion, one of Pauls best. Judging from the trailer the movie doen t seem to be vary good but that s not really the point. The main thing is that Paul still delivers and this song make me look forward to the new album he is workin on

The Anthology version is not the "full" version either - both versions were edited from the original recording. The official release cut out the reggae part, which was included in the Anthology version. But the Anthology version cut out part of the section with the high silly voices, including the part where it goes "You know my name, You know my number too / You know my number three and you know my number four" (which can be heard on the official release). In fact the cut is quite evident when it jumps suddenly to "You know my name, you know my name, and what's up with you?" I can understand why they had to cut it to fit on the single. The bigger question is why they didn't include the original "full" version on Anthology.

YS is a product of the 60's and reflects the art and sensibilities of that time. Any remake would no longer have that crucial element. But I could be wrong. I once thought making a TV show based on the movie M*A*S*H was a stupid idea!

You're mixing up three different things. The album Some Time in NYC was recorded in 1972 with a band called Elephant's Memory, but it was not Frank Zappa's band. It was a New York band that John associated with for a while.

The album included a second disc, called Live Jam, one side of which was John and Yoko with Frank Zappa's band The Mothers of Invention, recorded live at Fillmore East in New York in June 1971. (The other side featured John & Yoko with a number of artists, recorded live at the London Lyceum in 1969.)

Finally, the album Live in NYC was recorded at the One to One concerts in New York, in 1972. Both Live in NYC and Some Time in NYC featured an abbreviated Plastic Ono Band (Basically John & Yoko with Jim Keltner) combined with Elephant's Memory. Jim Keltner was pretty much a fixture in John's backup bands in those days, although Elephant's Memory had their own drummer. This would explain the two drummers in that concert.

(Interestingly, Jim Keltner worked with George Harrison a lot too, and is also one of two drummers in the Concert For Bangla Desh, the other being Ringo!)

The song itself is vintage McCartney, the piano chords and progressions, very Macca. His voice definitely shows signs of age (after all, he is 67). You can hear the "older man" compared to when he was 25. Having said that, it's perfect because this movie is about a man with grown children, taking a journey to get to know them again. So in a way, the older-sounding voice is PERFECT for this film. Long live Paul, may he continue to create beautiful songs like this one.

On a related note, I think it's awesome how the Beatles RockBand stuff has come out. My 10 year old has a Wii, and we've talked about getting the Beatles RockBand package for Christmas. If you've seen it, it's pretty darn awesome...the characters look pretty close to the real deal, and the music IS the real deal. It's amazing to think of my 10 year old, playing along (so to speak) with all these Beatles songs. He can't help but get hooked. Same for an entire generation of young people, hopefully.

Long live the Fab 4...in whatever medium comes along down the road!

been posting on this forum forever. there have been countless surveys about which paul album ranks as best. and this one constantly finishes in the top 5 or top 3. we can all disagree on whether an album is great or not. but if everyone says it is...it probably is.

i don't see that much debate on the negative side. there are some who love pipes of piece. and others who love mac 2. i love the fact that those albums have its defenders. there are also those who band on the run is overrated. thats cool too. but if they say that here they should know there are some disagreements on the horizon

I've seen The Moodys 8 times and they are just fantastic live...There's plenty of DVD's also. If you like them with a full orchestra, try The Moody Blues Live at Red Rocks with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra (Ray Thomas was still with the band before his retirement) or you can go more current with The Moody Blues Live at The Greek Theater in Los Angeles with their new Flautist Norda Mullen from Starkville, Mississippi...Both DVD's are great.

Also, the Moodys are not in the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame...Seriously, how is this possible considering some of the criteria they use to let some acts in...Like inovative, great music, career had to start over 25 years before consideration, etc. The Moodys (along with Jethro Tull) should be in the Rock Hall...PERIOD !

p.s. They've closed their shows with Ride My See Saw since 1978...and that song absolutely ROCKS...their harmonies are also note perfect

I haven't heard anything, but I wouldn't be surprised if its in the works. My guess is this is something that might coincide with the George biopic being made right now.

And just for the record I've always thought Extra Texture was highly under rated.
