Mob attacks McCartney tour bus

Paul McCartney was reportedly left fearing for his safety after his tour bus came under attack from a group of thugs in a tough area of Mexico on Friday night.

The Beatles legend performed at the Foro Sol arena in Mexico City on Thursday and Friday to huge crowds of fans.

But the visit turned sour after his final concert when his bus entered an impoverished neighbourhood in the capital and a mob ran up to the vehicle, forcing the driver to brake to a halt.

The crowd then scaled the bus, jumping up and down on its roof until local police were alerted, according to Britain's Daily Mirror.

A source tells the publication, "At first his security team thought it was just swarms of fans but when people started scaling the bus, the situation changed in a flash. Paul and the team were left shaken up."

And just so you know, your trustworthy source is... the Daily Mirror!! hahaha. For those of you who are just not familiar with it, the Mirror is one of those gossippy newspapers that actually believes Paul died in 1966 and that Jacko will reunite with Elvis to form a new band. No wonder why no other newspaper (anywhere) dared to make echo of this news, who would leave such an important issue without any coverage had it been true??

Pls just check Brian Ray`s and Rusty`s messages on twitter, they both were on the bus with Paul. No bad comments, not a single statement but instead the best of the opinions on the mexican crowd days after they left Mexico. Even Paul was really excited, wrote down a jam song called "Shine a Light in Mexico", on both days he took a few minutes just to thank the audience for the lights and for the good vibe. All the band took photos of the crowd, even Paul was fiming his way from the hotel to the venue. I know it`s easy to believe this kind of news if Paul performed in Mexico, but it is definetely false this time. MaccaCentral, pls stop the gossips and talk about the music.

This is the 2nd time I read this news and no real source appears. I was there at both concerts and from my seat I could see the exact moment Paul left, with several patrols guiding the bus and some more covering from behind. Since some mexican cities are sadly known to be dangerous and Mexico City is obviously dangerous as any other big city in the world, extra security and policemen are always provided to protect foreign celebrities. Probably some excited fans try to say hi but it is quite different from a mob trying to attack the bus. Besides, as already stated, policemen were protecting and guiding the bus` route. Even both Brian Ray and Rusty Anderson wrote on twitter days after the concert: "Mexico has the best crowd ANYwhere" and "mexican fans, thank you for your passion" feel free to check. It wouldn`t make sense for them to write that if they had felt actually attacked. Please better comment on Paul`s song specially written for these 2 concerts: "Shine a light in Mexico".

FAKE! I was following the bus with more people to say by to Paul and the band and we couldn`t get closer because of police cars surrounding the bus. Hahahaha. Nice try. Why does this site publish rubbish like this? Macca central I am completely disappointed. Why to publish for ALL THE WORLD to see, a note from a random site without found out if this was true? I guess no more macca central for me until this dreadful note is erased for ever!

Completely Fake. If this was true, Paul or someone from his crew would tell to the media. Like Beatles did in the 60`s on his Philippine tour. Besides, many people from the radio and fans were following the bus until it hit the airport grounds and only the bus was could pass airport security. Why did they miss that terrible thing? Because none of this happened.

True, the highway pursuits, police brutality, shootings in schools, churches burned by racists, wars in foreign countries ... Mexico is a very insecure .... oh no, it seems that I was not writing about Mexico.

Three times Paul has visited México and I´ve been in 3 of his concerts, and really I can say that the note is false. The note did not reveals the source. In my opinion that kind of notes makes damages to the imagen of México and harms the confidence of Macca central.

Yeah indeed this are strange news, if anyone who reads this (outside of mexico) believe it, you have to know that the concerts take place near the Airport. (you can check this on Google maps) and there wasn`t any kind of reports of this. I do too think its a disqualification kind of thing. I hope there`s no relation between this history and the hate some people (i say SOME) shows to imigrants lately. PAUL would say if that were true!!! of course he didn`t couse its fake!!!

This is very hard to actually happend. There was a police operative from 5 PM to after the concert in and around the Foro Sol. The path to the International Airport is in fact 5 min. long and in no moment across any empoverish neighboorhood (the nearest its at least 10 km away from the Foro) and the path it is at all times trough a highway. It is just not posible that something like that happend without any coverage from the local press or from fans around The Foro Sol. Stop with the difamation to Mexico!!! Paul loved the audience and I think that actually enjoy staying here!!

The note seems false to me, is the same text in many places without official confirmation. Anyway, the path from the Foro Sol to the International Airport of Mexico City, is very short (no more than 5 min). And the kind of action referred to is not the typical action of crime in Mexico. It seems to me rather a notice of disqualification.

Behavior like this is just disgusting! Hey, Paul, like you indicated on your live webchat - you won`t get treatment like this after a concert in Toronto, man! Or, even better yet, come to Ottawa (too!). We have a brand new arena you would sound just great in. We would love to have you perform here! I have seen you live six times since 1976 Wings Over America tour and would just love to make it seven. Better still - even - a couple of back stage passes and a chance to meet the Legend......... Hey - I can dream!

Didn`t see anything on this from mainstream media. Paul has had this happen before. With the Beatles in Manila in 1966 I believe. Also, while recording Band On The Run, apparently he and Linda were mugged and a tape stolen from him of their recordings in Lagos. Just another one to add to his experiences. Still does not detract from the scariness. Good luck to you in the future Paul, Kudos for even going to Mexico.
