Rock and Roll at the Hollywood BOWL! Take Two

Paul McCartney and band played a second night at the Hollywood Bowl last night. This was the third show of the "Up and Coming Tour" which takes him to Miami, San Juan and five dates in Europe so far have been announced.

There were some set-list changes from the first Hollywood Bowl gig the night before. Gone are Got To Get You Into My Life, I Want To Come Home, I'm Looking Through You and Two Of Us. Replaced with Drive My Car, Let 'Em In, I've Just Seen A Face, And I Love Her. Personally, I would like all those songs to somehow stay in the set perhaps dropping something else. What the hell why not just add another hour to the show?

Bob Gannon sends his report on the sound check and concert including photos to soon come, but for now they will show the first nights slideshows.

Report by Bob Gannon

Just got in from the concert and it was a very interesting evening. As good as the first show was this one put it to shame!! Paul & Band were firing on all cylinders.

We'll start with the soundcheck. Paul was late for sound check so it may be the reason that it was a little shorter than normal.

Here's the setlist from the Sound Check

01. Matchbox
02. Blue Suede shoes
03. Honey Don't
04. Flaming Pie
05. I Saw Her Standing There
06. Babyface (whole song)
07. Let 'Em In
08. Celebration (with the lyrics)
09. San Francisco Bay
10. Every Night
11. Calico Skies
12. Dance Tonight
13. Something
14. Yesterday

From Mar.30th Sound Check

Hi Gang,
And now for the show. Paul came out in a different black jacket with a different pattern on it. Black pants and beatle boots. Underneath was a white shirt and suspenders. And hold the presses!!!! Paul did not do the same set as the night before as things seem to continue to get tweaked. Once again, "Every Night" was left out.

Paul was extremely animated and really into the show and the band was up to the task and just completely rocked out. Amazing how much better this show was. Although no jaw dropping changes to the set but another 4 changes from the night before.

1st night --> 2nd night

Got To Get You Into My Life --> Drive My Car
I Want To Come Home --> Let 'Em In
I'm Looking Through You --> I've Just Seen A Face
Two Of Us --> And I Love Her

This may be the beginning baby steps to hearing our pleas!

Sing the Changes!!

was it just me or did the sound absolutely suck at the Hollywood bowl. I was half way up, dead center and it was horrid. I am the biggest Macca fan and I have seen him 3 times so I have something to compare here. His mic was so loud it created static sounds, it was distracting and ear piercing. And the music sounded like it was coming out of TV from 1970. I was really upset at how bad it sounded, everyone around me though the same. Who is reviewing these concerts? and Where are you sitting?

Just looking at the set lists from the Hollywood Bowl Shows, I`d much rather have been at the first show. Obviously, I am a die-hard fan who likes all of his songs but honestly, I think the set list changes sucked.

Bob: Thanks for all your updates. I saw Paul April 2009 at Vegas and heard rumor there that he had signed a deal with Hard Rock to do 6 concerts there over a three year period of time? Any truth in that rumor that you know of. Hope Rumors of being in Chicago in Sept. 2010 are true. I`ll be there! Love the set list changes he is making! Thanks Bob
