Paul rocked on a 2nd night @ Citi Field in New York City Check out these first hand fan reports complete with a 48 image slideshow Report by: Bob Gannon
Hey gang, Again sorry for the late report as my hotel doesn't have wireless internet. Not much changed in night number two except it was a much more energy charged show than the first. Maybe this was because it did not rain of this evening, in fact, the weather was absolutely perfect. Still alot of interaction between band members during the show, especially Paul & Abe. No sign of Nancy this time. A couple of times, they were a little sloppy and the timing was off for Paul getting back to the mic after strutting around the stage and a few times he came in at the wrong time. Not all that noticeable as once again all the audience members around me were in absolute bliss. Paul's voice was exceptionally strong this evening and other than being over come with emotion with "Here Today" kept it together nicely. Although "Here Today" his voice started cracking aboput the midpoint and it was a struggle to keep it together for the rest of the song. After all my times of seeing him perform this song and having showed emotion in the past, this time it was highly visibly and audibly tough for him to perform this one in front of the NYC crowd. One of the funny signs that were held up was "Paul, will you marry me?". So as he is telling the sign story, he says like "Paul, will you marry me?" as he points overto the woman holding the sign. The crowd started cheering as Paul shrugged his shoulders looking for a reaction and then simply stated "NO!" No special guests performed although Mick Jagger was in attendance, it is a pity it would have been pretty cool for them to do something together. "Foxy Lady" was especially raunchy as were the added parts to "I've got a feeling" and "Paperback Writer". He seemed to really be enjoying his chance to show off his musicianship. During one of the bows, they bowed in front into the little shuffle dance and then turned with their backs to the audience and bowed towards the rear stage. I don't remember ever seeing them do that. Also, something caught Abe and Paul's eyes during one of the bows as Abe put his hands in little circles in front of his eyes as if he was wearing binoculars, Paul came over and put his arm around Abe and then they both pointed at something while they laughed. Paul then hugged Abe while they continued laughing. Well, setlist is below....

Report by:Thetwoofus02 I was there last night, and as always Macca delivered. It was a great time. I have to say though, my best moments were the non Beatle songs. I love Mrs Vanderbilt, Highway, Live and Let Die, and I have to say, people really seemed to like Sing The Changes. Another great moment was when Paul was reading a sign that said, "Marry Me Paul" and he said Nooo. lol People laughed, and I took the whole night in. I listened to what other people had to say, and I heard nothing but praise. The only downfall was I had floor seats, and two 6'2 guys standing right in front of me. Thats not a problem for me, but I have a 5'1 tall wife. After the concert she said, next time, we're getting front row tickets. My reply was, two tickets in the front row sold on Ebay for $11,500. Thats a car! Great night never the less, and beautiful weather. The man came, he saw, and he conquered.
Report by: joebattista Wow! Where do I start. I've seen Macca 12 other times, including Standing Stone in 1997 (Royal AH); and did the Magical Mystery Tour to London & Liverpool in 1993. But I honestly can say, I have NEVER heard Paul sound better in concert. I sat in Section 520 and the sound was crystal clear. The backup vocals were amazing (Abe can really sing). The Highlights are many; here are a few....
Something - He played the first half of this song on Uke, and the rest of the band joined him for "Abbey Road" version. Fantastic.
Here Today - The one song where Paul's voice noticably cracked; not from lack of vocal range, but only from the emotion he must have felt singing the tribute to John,
Live & Let Die - expected the pyro - did not expect the fireworks display. Pretty awesome.
Let me Roll it - The man can play guitar!!! It's amazing watching him switch from Bass to Electric to Acoustic to Piano to Ukelele to Mandolin etc...
Dance tonight - surprisingly came across very well live. The crowd really clapped along and jammed to this song.
Day Tripper - Great Great version. Did not expect him to play this one.
Got to get you into my life - very happy he brought this song back. His voice was ripping.,
Citi Field - This place must have been BUILT for the live show because the sound was great, and you can hear everything even from the upper level; a far cry from the first time he played at Shea, I would think.
Wonderful, Odile... Thanks so much for the info. Did you happen to notice if there were other banners or anything else to catch their eye around us (most likely in the balcony above us, as we could see everywhere but up)? I hope you have a fantastic time in DC, you lucky ducks! Thanks again.
David, We were on the floor on the left side of the stage and we could see and read the banner perfectly ! I am positive they could see it from the stage ! We are going to the DC concert August 1st. Odile
City Field, NY City - Saturday 18 July 200 It is silly to say, but Paul is 23 all over again! He is having fun like a teen, making all the girls scream for him like at Shea! His voice was strong and clear, much better than a few years ago! They say he is 67, but he rocked none stop for almost 3 hours! His good spirits and humor drove the show. Paul interacted constantly with the first rows! His band matched him perfectly like his own shadow. Abe was exceptional and eventually even said “I love you, Paul”! Psychedelic images of the Beatles in background, a volcanic firework during the traditional “Live and Let Die”, and even a guitar solo from Paul honoring Hendrix! Nothing stopped the show from flowing! Special good grades go to 2 titles from the Fireman. “Highway” and “Sing the Changes” are songs that were destined to be performed live. The only regret was that the NY audience was too shy and seemed to arrive late, which was hard to believe. Too many Beatles fans and not enough Paul’s fans. The audience came only for a Fab Four concert. Too many Beatles t-shirts, not enough Paul’s ones. Only one Wings’ t-shirt (The Japan Tour 1980). The Beatle fans seemed lost when Paul played his new songs from the Fireman and MAF. Frank and I dream of a Paul concert with less Beatles songs or none at all. Who are we to complain about “I`m Down”, “Helter Skelter” and “I`ve Got a Feeling”. The audience finally cheered up when a fan screamed “You are the greatest”. Special tribute for John when Paul played “Here Today”. He struggled to finish the song with a cracking voice and tears in the eyes. Later he would play “Give Peace a Chance” and NY enjoyed it. “My Love” for Linda, a tribute for George with an amazing “Something” that made a transition which was new. Paul joked about this song being the best “Lennon-McCartney” according to Elvis. Mick Jagger was in the audience. Paul smiled and replied “NO” to a fan’s sign that read “Marry me Paul!” Final bow of the band showing their behinds to the audience! A final goodbye and “See you next time”! We`ll be there! Next time for us will be FedEx Field in DC! Beautiful Night. We want more, it is never enough! Again and again and again.... Odile and Frank
