Paul McCartney Asks Climate Change Conference To Take Up Vegetarian Initiative

paulmccartney-04261.jpg Paul McCartney has sent a letter to Christiana Figueres, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and H.E. Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah, President Designate for Conference of the Parties (COP), the leaders of the Conference of the Parties climate change conference in Doha.

In the letter Macca says that sponsoring vegetarian programs like Meat Free Monday would further their agenda:

"Although more and more evidence is coming to light showing how the growth of the global meat industry is having alarming environmental consequences, the impact of the livestock sector on global warming does not as yet seem to have been acknowledged by the Conference of the Parties (COP)", writes McCartney.

"I therefore call upon you to bring this issue to the attention of the conference and encourage the adoption of policy and individual actions, such as a weekly meat-free day."

The Meat Free Monday has garnered support from several high-profile persons and even entire cities.

We attended the first soeissn in November and this was our second experience with this type of learning concert . We have attended concert 3 to 6 times a year for the last 25 years, with neither one of us having a musical background. Therefore these two concerts provided much information for us, and we have thoroughly enjoyed expanding our knowledge. We could actually hear the difference in the concert. I plan to purchase tickets for the concert in March.
