McCartney kicked his two-night stand at the stadium by performing Beatles classic "Hello, Goodbye." The 69-year-old singer has never before played the venue in either its modern or original incarnation during a career stretching back over six decades.
After his second number over a 35-song, two-and-a-half-hour performance, he thanked the audience and took a second to soak up the atmosphere to loud cheers from the sell-out crowd.
Sir Paul kicked off his 2011 "On the Run" live tour last month with his first ever show in Peru, his first Chilean gig since 1993, and two blockbuster shows at Rio de Janeiro's Estadio Olimpico Joao Havelange.
His shows in Latin America were the first ever concerts to be broadcast live on the internet throughout Latin America - allowing over 1.5 million fans who were unable to snap up one of the 100,000 tickets to share in the magic.
