Report from the 100 Club (slideshow)

  • Source: Bob Gannon

Paul was high energy in this very small venue lunch time show. It started at 1pm as Paul apologized that he was late due to traffic. Staff at the 100 Club was very unorganized, at least the security staff. A snafu with my tickets turned me from 15th person on line to almost the last one in the door. Luckily Barry Marshall came outside and after explaining to him, he quickly shuttled us in. The lighting was brutal on pictures and many were using flashes. The club was a sauna and very, very hot. I was in a tough spot to take photos but some will be on the way shortly to those news sites you know so well. Here's the setlist, I read on Jories that someone said that Matchbox was a snippet when in fact, it was the whole song.

01. Matchbox
02. Magical Mystery Tour
03. Jet
04. Drive my car
05. All my loving
06. one after 909
07. Honey Hush  (dedicated to Mick Green)
08. Let Me Roll It
09. Long and Winding Road
10. 1985 (Band on the Run outtro piano)
11. a few bars of Let it Snow & Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire
12. Maybe I'm Amazed
13. Don't Let the Sun Catch You Crying.
14. Blackbird
15. Calico Skies
16. I'm looking Through You
17. And I Love Her
18. Patruska
19. Dance Tonight
20. Eleanor Rigby
21. Hitch Hiking
22. Band on the Run
23. Ob La Di Ob La da
24. Let it Be
25. Hey Jude

Encore
26 Yesterday
27. Get Back
28. Sgt Peppers/ The End

Things of note, Paul accepted a prezzie about halfway through the show of a Little Richard 45 RPM of "Shake a Hand" which he thanked the presenter. Also a new cool twist on the trying to get an autograph but bringing his IPAD, lifting the screen upwards to reveal the words " PAUL PLEASE SIGN MY IPAD!" with a straight line and an X where he was to sign. The request was not granted but Paul did mention about todays technology. Originally we were told that he'd play about an hour but by the end of the show, it was a little over 2 hours. Numerous times Paul mentioned what a great venue it is and asked Mr. 100 to save the club. Brian and Abe greeted fans that they knew before exiting the stage.
