Paul McCartney to Take Back Song Rights from EMI

I loved loved loved the Band of the Run repackaging/remaster thing. Well done. As far as memory Almost Full as Paul`s best album? No way...! try Ram, London Town, Chaos & Creation, Flowers in the Dirt first. Also, consider getting a Sony turntable at BestBuy or wherever that will burn LPs onto CD. Crackles and all. LPs are the ultimate in sound quality in my opinion.

I thought his label was Hear Music now. When he switched with Memory Almost Full (his best album yet by the way) I thought they were not really big enough to be able to handle that kind of demand that McCartney`s back catalog is sure to generate. Well, if they are all remastered like Band On The Run was then they will certainly be worth purchasing over again. I might even become a Starbuck`s customer if they are available there. I love the Beatles remastered. It is cool to actually hear them breathing between lines of the songs on so many, also Ringo`s drums and Paul`s bass are much more discernable. I never realized how much hand clapping there is in Beatles music. It would be great to rediscover Paul`s in much the same way. From all I have read about the Beatles, I believe that a lot of the little subtleties that are clearer now and make Beatles music so re-listenable over and over were due to Paul`s contributions anyway. Looking forward to them!!

I wonder if this is related to McCartney`s Capitol albums being no longer available on iTunes or the major mail order CD shops. The 40th anniversary of "McCartney" is coming up. This would be a good time to starting issuing remasters.

I hope they do the rereleases on the quality level of The Beatles remasters. McCartney`s solo-career is a continuation of that and it should be. As a kid you discover The Beatles, then you grow up and become curious about the solo-careers. It`s a natural move. Maybe every McCartney-album and song is not for everyone, it`s a lot more diverse than The Beatles, stretching through decades of musical attitude changes and production-trends coming and going. But there`s lots of great stuff to discover for the interested. Altough every record is not neccesarily for YOU to like. One man`s coffee is another man`s whiskey. McCartney`s solo-career is a lot more like that, than his Beatles-years. : )

The re-release would be done as well as McCartney allows it to be done. He has had control of his solo material since 1975. That Rhino video retrospective while good could have been more complete so we can`t use EMI as a scapegoat on that one. It`s really been in his court since then. As for that Ten Little Indian article, it was a re-write of an earlier article a couple of weeks after the release of MAF. Now will the re-issue come with a coupon for coffee?

Well, I thought he`d already done that. As far as I remember this was brought up when "Electric Arguments" was released and it was rumoured that One Little Indian should release his backcatalog. Well, whoever for me as long as they do it properly. They should rerelease it under the motto: CLASSIC McCARTNEY. Because that`s what it is. The greatest songwriter to ever grace pop music.
