Bio of Band Members (2002-present)

NOTE: Gabe Dixon played keyboards on "Driving Rain" but long-time Paul keyboardist Wix Wickens did his magic for the 2002/2003 tours. Brian Ray was also added for these tours. Below is a bio of the band released in 2002.

Paul 'Wix' Wickens

Instrument: Keyboards

Resumé: Classically trained from the age of six, Wix developed a love of pop and blues which led to a flourishing career in sessions. He has been professionally associated with everyone from Celine Dion to Bob Dylan and has played on over sixty Top Forty records, including six number ones, while producing such hits as Tasmin Archer's UK No. 1 "Sleeping Satellite". He has worked with Paul McCartney since 1989 on two world tours and five albums. His company also produces music for TV, films and commercials.

Drives: Subaru Legacy Outback, 1965 Mk2 Jaguar, 1967 Triumph TR5

Wants to drive: Audi S8 or RS4 Avant Most memorable drives: Up Highway One from LA to San Francisco, past big Sure with The Beach Boys playing and the top down; down the south island of New Zealand the sense of space and scenery blows your socks off.

Abe Laboriel Jr

Instrument: Drums

Resume: Grew up in Los Angeles, jamming with father and listening to the White Album. Graduated from Berkley College of Music in 1993 and went on tour with Steve Vai, Seal, KD Lang and Sting. He recorded with Hanson, Fishbone, Scritti Politti, Chris Isaac and with Paul McCartney on " Driving Rain".

Drives: 1990 Ford Bronco (but I love old muscle cars).

Most memorable drive: The Day when flames starting shooting through the air conditioning vents on my old Pontiac Le Mans Sport. I stopped and ran to beg a garden hose from a nearby house. It wouldn't reach so I had to wait for real firemen to come and put it out.

Resume: Started playing guitar at eight because of The Beatles. Played in a million bands since and written songs with many people including Robi "Draco" Rosa and E from the Eels. For the past 15 years worked on sessions in LA for recordings with Elton John, Santana, Dido and The New Radicals among many others.

Drivers: White 1978 Pontiac Trans AM.

Wants to drive: I love my car.

Most Memorable drive: While driving at midnight in a tour van in San Francisco with one of my former bands we passed a Fairy Godmother on a seven foot high tricycle in the fast lane!

Brain Ray

Instrument: Guitar and Bass

Resume: Inspired by The Beatles, started playing guitar at age of nine. Right out of high school I replaced another guitarist at an Etta James rehearsal, played another show with her the next night and stayed with her for the next 14 years. Wrote "One Heartbeat" which was a hit for Smokey Robinson in 1987, played produced and wrote with Rita Coolidge and in 1998 became musical director for Adam Cohen, with whom I continue to write. Most recently I have been touring in France with Johnny Hallyday and Mylene Farmer.

Drives: V8 Lexus SC 400 Sport Coupé.

Wants to drive: 1957 Caddy Brougham.

Most memorable drive: At the age of 12 my cool Aunt Lee let me drive her Corvair on the 17 mile drive in Carmel, California.

Equipment: various Gibson Les Pauls old and new, a Gretsch Double Anniversary, a Duesenberg and a '63 Gibson Dove acoustic. I'm also playing a '70s Guild M-85 bass and a Fender Precision bass and using Electroplex amps, Line Six gear abd assorted effects.
