i just listened to the soundtrack today. some of the songs were good but the others werent even close to the beatles. i think that blackbird was pretty well done.

Man, the wallflowers do a fantastic job on "i'm looking through you".
sara mclachlan does a good job on "blackbird" also. Across the universe, help and revolution kind of suck.

Sean Penn asked George about using actual Beatle recordings in this flick. Goerge had never forgotten about what a complete a-hole Penn had been to him during the filming of "Shanghai Surprise"--I think that was the title-the one with Madonna--so George basically told Penn to get lost. This is according to one account I read, for what it's worth.

Yeah, Scrodfish, imagine being such a jackass that George Harrison could hold a grudge against you for a decade or so...although I guess Hari had issues with his sister,as well. Maybe he was just a spiteful, angry, hateful bully, ol' George...remember when he kicked Fred Rogers in the teeth at the daytime emmys back in '87?

So now I'm a jackass because I like the Wainright rendition? What is it with you guys? I suppose I should just fall in line with the "McCartney Can Do No Wrong" Cyborgs and only post that Paul is the best and can do no wrong.

King, what's the use in explaining things to you continuously when you don't even bother to listen? It's not because you like Rufus Wainright. I could care less. It's how you address other people that makes you out to be a jackass. And if you can't see that, then you have a serious problem, my friend.
