Eric Clapton's contribution to The Beatles

When George left the Beatles during the sessions for Get Back for a week, Lennon suggested to call Eric Clapton, is that true?

Dont know if it is or not, but I've read it a few times. he siad something like "We'll just get Eric in here and have a go"...or words to that effect.

Eric Clapton was the best and great George's friend(despite the fact Eric took Patti's heart from George), and always got on well with the other three Lads, participating on their several albums and concerts...I think that would be great if he could be one of the Fabs.
