I recently saw a bootleg version of the film - the first time I had seen it in entirety. Wasn't great quality, as the audio and video were slightly out of sync - but a few things were clear:

1. Paul was definitely running the show. He was in charge, directing things. He seemed to be providing the momentum for the entire band at that point.

2. John seemed to be in good spirits, usually smiling, relaxed, enjoying himself. I was expecting bitter and twisted expressions but most of the time he seemed to be loving being involved, even if it was just quietly strumming a guitar in the background.

3. The rehearsals were very loose, Ringo seemed to be the only one keeping tight throughout, as a drummer should do. Everyone else was in jam-mode. Besame Mucho was hilarious.

4. The 'rehearsed' live segments were excellent. Two of Us was great during rehearsal, but they got it together and did an even-tighter second version. I think Paul should play this song live once again.

5. The rooftop concert was a revelation. I had seen pieces of this concert before, but to watch the onlookers on film is a fascinating artifact of social history.

I can't wait to see this when it finally comes out on dvd.
I needed comfort of love just to get me some piece of mind.. wo-oh

Let it be

Postby gfazerman » Fri Oct 07, 2005 8:32 am

September is now Yesterday.
Let it be is Here There and Everywhere.. yet...still not officially released.
I believe I viewed it in a dream...it appeared on a flaming pie.
NYC/MSG...Tuesday night.. I've never experienced such an intimate show in such a huge venue.
Mac chatted up the crowd the entire show. Tremendous energy..vocals great!!
Any new news on Let it be being OFFICIALLY RELEASED??

I always resisted buying bootlegs of this movie plus the outtakes due to some vain hope that one day, just one day Apple would see some sense and put this historical document out.
The 30th anniversary came and went and still no sign. Then came "Let It Be Naked" some kind of half hearted attempt with a whole 10 minutes (yes I did say 10 minutes) or so of outtakes from the hundreds of hours available!
Apple just can't seem to get it right! They need to put the fans in charge instead of the corporate idiots that run the company!
Still no sign of the movie but hey! the 40th anniversary is just around the corner...who knows!

Phew!! Excuse me whilst I have a lie down!!

I wonder if Apple just figures that for every one copy they sell, 10,000 people will download the thing for free. Not worth the effort maybe? I'm still waiting for the remastered catalogue.
