`NO MATTER WHAT` is covered on new Def Leppard album

Postby Mike » Tue Apr 12, 2005 1:30 pm

I heard on our local FM station Q107 out of Toronto this new cover of Badfinger's NO MATTER WHAT. It's very true to the original harmonies and all but has some heavier guitars. At first I thought it was Bryan Adams on the lead vocal and I really got confused since Bryan Adams and Def Leppard are going on tour together but the info from defleppard.com below confirms it Def Leppard.

On May 17, "ROCK OF AGES - THE DEFINITIVE COLLECTION", the band's new compilation album, will be released on double CD in North America. While last year's world release of this compilation ("BEST OF") contained a new song in the form of "WATERLOO SUNSET" (originally by The Kinks), the new song on the American release will be "NO MATTER WHAT" (originally recorded by Badfinger), also to be released as a radio single. To hear a short sample of the song, click below!

Sounded good it just shows that bands today
are going for songs in the past.

When Def Leppard came out with a song a few years ago called "Two Steps Behind" I could have sworn it was Bryan Adams! That's why I thought it was funny that they announced the co-headlining tour together this summer.
And in the end...

Yeah I've heard this cover, but I think it misses all the nuances of the original, they're just slamming some basic chords over the top of it, very workmanlike. I wasn't that impressed by it. It wasn't a bad cover, but it didn't exactly elevate it to 'the next level' either.
I needed comfort of love just to get me some piece of mind.. wo-oh

Was nice to hear such a great song covered. It was a pleasure to hear it along side a few Paul songs in "The In-Laws" soundtrack which I just happen to catch a bit of today.

From what I´ve heard they haven´t done a good job of it. Stick to the Badfinger version, much better
