Didn´t Rolling stones release a double album with all their singles, before The white????

Which one could be that, can ya tell me??

The rolling stones single collection 1963-1965. I´ve seen it in a music shop over here.

Well, maybe that was a ´63-´65 collection but was really that RELEASED in the 60´s?? Remmember some compilations are released several years later...

Yikes....what's with the SHOUTING??? Try and turn the caps off, please....As for the "drums by Paul thing, actually, that's only partially correct. On page 151 it states "although the early takes reveal Pual as the drummer on the basic track, 2 more drum tracks were later overdubbed, while Paul was playing other intruments. Also, it states that both George and Paul played lead, with George playing "first lead guitar". You'd think that if it was Paul playing the solo, they would have pointed it out? Maybe it's on another page, but I couldn;t find it. I even checked the book "Revolution:making of...". According to this book, on the harmony, it's John falsetto and Macca bass--Lewisohn says it George and John. .Also, J, P & G all played bass parts on the song.

I like the White Album, but I've never considered it their best. There are some incredible individual performances on the the album, and it does a great job illustrating each band member's personality/style/etc. It's just not a cohesive group album IMHO. That's why I always go for Abbey Road as #1. (Followed closely by Rubber Soul then Revlover)
Most people from my generation tend to pick the White Album as the best. I can understand that - it fits in well with the "alternative" music of the '90s and the stuff from today as well. I just really missed George Martin's presence. But the songs are GREAT - Blackbird, Back in the USSR, Helter Skelter, etc. Some of Macca's best work.
