A FLURRY of excitement swept through Prestwick Airport when John Lennon’s 1965 Rolls Royce landed.
Fans of the late, great Beatle flocked to a storage warehouse at the airport last week for a glimpse of the car made famous by the Fab Four’s classic film Yellow Submarine.
The Rolls stopped off in Prestwick en route to the USA after being on display in London.
The airport’s station manager, John Barclay, told the Post: “Surprisingly a lot of people wanted to get in for a peek at it. It was really exciting and it was a very pleasant car.
“We actually think it’s the one that was used in Yellow Submarine.
“It looked as though it was completely hand-painted, not to mention very valuable and unique.”
The flamboyant motor is 19 feet long and weighs three tonnes.
John added: “It’s probably the most celebrity-orientated thing we’ve handled here at Prestwick.
“But all the excitement is over now, although for Beatles fans it will live on. They were over the moon.”
