Keeping Up Appearances: Onslow was Paul

Postby Mr. Badger » Thu Jul 22, 2004 8:04 am

Alright, this surprised me a lot when I read it.

The popular BBC 'program', Keeping Up Appearances's slow, fat and lazy person, Onslow, is actually played by the man who did Pauls voice on Yellow Submarine.. Geoffrey Hughes.

Geoffrey Hughes is also born in the magical town of Liverpool..

Wow, I didn't know GH did that! I know him better as Eddie Yeats in Coronation Street, but I liked him in Keeping Up Appearances too. That is one hella cool titbit of trivia! 8)

:D GH is actually a very skilled actor. I like him very much as Vernon Scripps in (another British-show) Heartbeat.
I'll think that Yellow Submarine will be very interesting next time I watch it, now when I know who Pauls voice is.

It could have been fun, if it was the real John, Paul, George and Ringo who did the voices.
But GH & co. does it well too.

Actually I couldnĀ“t imagine Paul sing "Yellow submarine", I know he wrote it and so on, but it will always be a present from him to Ringo. I think the lyric is dreadful and is one of my worst song I think :D But anyway GH does it quite well, deffently agree.
You must appreciate the day...

When I saw the title of this thread, I thought it was another "clue" in the Paul is Dead rumours. "Here's another clue for you all, Onslow was Paul!" (Onslow does sort of resemble a walrus a bit!)

Oooh! And the other Beatles were just "Keeping up appearances" when they replaced Paul with Billy Shears! It all fits now!!!
