The version that was the alternate version of IOS was the mono version on the mono YESTERDAY AND TODAY album.The one on RARITIES was the common stereo version.

Well, the U.S. release("Butchers" cover) had alternative versions, that could have satisfied the collectors, as well as the U.K.release that had several B-side singles that could be lacking in any Beatle- collection...Is there CD versions of those "Rarities"??

I have 2 different copies of the "Rarities" records, each with different layout (Butchers cover as said above...and a plain blue cover one) and completely different tracklistings. Hmmm. I always found that one record had genuine "rare" songs, while the other just had B-sides, which weren't all-too-rare IMO.

My favourite tracks would be the high-pitched Across The Universe, with the charming sound effects, and You Know My Name (Look Up The Number)...and The Inner Light, which I had never heard before at the time...though I later came across a 45 of Lady Madonna.

I bought Rarities for two years ago on record for 40 kr. it´s 4 pounds.

One of the most interesting versions of the "butchers" Rarities is the extra trumpet final chord on "Penny Lane"... Never´ve been heard such version anywhere then...

Interesting that as Steve said, this "Rarities" was like a pre-"Anthologies", a prior of the off-takes of their official releases...

I see more rarities as a collector opdject than an ultimative greatest album.
