this got so much hype and the most sales , yet was by far the weakest of the 3 , bizarre marketing really . any casual beatles fans who bought this would have been seriously put off .

Being a beatle nut, I loved it. I think it was pretty strong, but I found fault and ommissions with all 3 of them. Can't make all of us maniacs happy, lol.

'the complete silver beatles' LP on 'audiofidelity ' records is really impressive - have you heard it steve ? if you like anthology 1 you'll love it ! (it has the final takes of recordings of 'like dreamers do' ,'sheik of araby ' etc but the best track is 'september in the rain' with macca on vocals ! i found it in a crappy little record shop)

My favorite track on it is "Cry for a Shadow", regardless of the extra rare co-autorship Lennon/Harrison. Love the beat and ringing guitars...

I love this one too, but the new fans who thought this was some sort of a "hits" album was very dissapointed.. Too bad couse they missed out on a lot of good stuff.. Like Leave my kitten alone, Can´t buy me love, How do you do it and so on..

If you have just gotten into The Beatles then you are better off with The red and blue double album and some of their studio albums (pepper, rubber soul, a hard days night, revolver, white album or abbey road are all good starts)

I still think one should always start at the beginning....to hear them in order is the only way. To hear Abbey Road before PPM will not let the listener realize the growth that occured as writers, singers and musicians.

ACTUALLY...I was surprised to discover a teenager who launched his new found love for the Beatles when he got ANTHOLOGY 1 for Christmas.

Not really. Especially for the younger people, they have to start somewhere. At least he started with Anthology 1 and not Anthology 3.
