ILike i said, white performers have a warped view of black performers. It's an almost paternalistic kind of white man knows best sort of vibe. And that's sad.
Modern music is nothing without black musicians and culture. And i mean that.
I could not agree more! I was a teen when rock began. Lucky for me, we went to the CT shore where we could pull in NYC radio, so I got to hear Alan Freed's radio show. In Hartford, we mostly got white covers, like by Pat Boone (Yuck!!!). But we also had the State Theater to which Alan Freed brought his rock shows. So I got to see the original rockers, like Little Richard, Chuck Berry, etc. It was all new music and they weren't all that much older than we were. I can't recall anything quite so exciting. The Beatles, who are my age, took what we all grew up to and made it ours, giving credit every step of the way - God bless their souls!
