ok....
i apologize but i'm on medication for my cynicism.....
silly songs.........
Venus and Mars....of course they're alright tonight....they always are....it's ridiculous to think otherwise
Spirits of Ancient Egypt....hung on the telephone?....are we talking about booze purchased in the middle east or pharoahs with inflated long distance bills?
Let Em In.......why can't you let em in? why must someone else let em in? too busy writing silly songs like this to let em in?
My Brave Face......what is so courageous about a face? Unless you're the Elephant Man...
Temporary Secretary......aren't they called interns these days?
Press to Play....he never identifies what actually has to be pushed, does he? right there...yes...?????? what??? a cosmic button of some kind? the pillsbury dough boy?
Driving Rain.....why would you want to drive into a hurricane? is this like one of those natural disaster obsessions like the girl in "Twister" had??
ok.....
i apologize cuz i'm still feeling giddy about the Winona revelation.....

I always felt the same way about Let 'Em In even tho it's one of my faves! Temporary secretaries are workers hired on a temporary basis, quite different from interns. In CA it never rains but when it does, it pours I think is what he meant by driving rain, also a play on driving in the rain.

Let 'Em In, I totally agree. If he had let 'em in instead of writing that song . . . if only!

My Brave Face - it's a metaphor, you know, "put on a brave face about something". It's not silly at all.

Press - the line "tell me to press" meaning he wants to press her with his love. Voila!

Just been listening to PTP actually. Well, up to Pretty Little Head, which is really silly. The hi-fi went funny on the next song, so I stopped and came down to the cyber-cafe.

Also listened to BTTE the other day - OK, I get it now. I like that album a lot more than I did

I'll say it again. The silliest song that gets away with it and is also great is BOGEY MUSIC - am I the only person who ever talks about this gem, or what?
