Slow tempo version of 'Help' on paino

Postby Child Of Nature » Sat Mar 15, 2003 12:57 pm

John often wrote he felt "Help" was too uptempo for his liking...

There is a recording floating around of John doing a slow tempo version of the song on piano during his solo years.....

Has anyone heard this version? What do you think?

I have a copy of this song and i have to disagree with John. The faster version which was released is better imo.

But if The Beatles had recorded and released HELP in a slower blues version instead, we'd never know the difference!

The Lennon slow version is very close to the live take McCartney did at the 1990 Liverpool show.

BTW, what do you think about Tina Turner´s "Help" slow version??
Great Tina´s vocal as ever but I think that´s a bit boring...

Peace.

WAD, Nito...way too slow...Macca's slower version on his 1990 2nd leg tour was much better, of course.

I'm sure you're all aware, John did write Help originally as a ballad. Interesting to hear, I'm certain.

I actually performed that song in my show ten days ago. Not as fast as the original, but with a mid-tempo bluesy beat to it, and using a couple of guitar voices in combination on my keyboard (one acoutsic, one electric). Worked quite nicely.
