Why wasn't Dylan at the Concert for George?

Where was Bob Dylan? As a Wilbury "brother" I'd have thought he would've appeared.

I think he was touring somewhere, pre-committed...

Still, I also wonder why he was a no-show. I mean people can always re-schedule gigs and other appointments, it's done quite often. Perhaps he didn't feel inclined to be "in the spot" and attract a lot of attention - all the emotional pressure, the coverage and stuff might have turned him off...

He was in Australia touring. I seem to remember reading that he did a few George songs during his set as a tribute.

Dylan is so strange that way. He wasn't at the Johnny Cash memorial concert in Nashville, either. (After saying Johnny was "Like the North Star - you could guide your ship by him" a few weeks before the memorial) Kind of disappointing, but quintessentially Dylan.

He sort of did the same thing for Johnny - he performed the song "Man in the Long Black Coat" for days after Johnny died.
