A BIG disappointment of an album IMO.

At the time, it was a welcome addition to anyone's collection, pre-Anthology. It was a Capitol release.

WAD it was, Steve-o. It was fun. It had Beatle photos on it I hadn't seen before, and I had only heard the original Across The Universe on bootleg, but I didn't own it until the cleaner version on RARITIES. Also She Leib Dicht I had once owned on the SWAN 45 but it got lost somewhere along the way, so it was nice to have it back again.

At least it has a great album cover.

Man, I wish I had bought it when I had the chance, back when LP's were the main things on the shelves in music stores. Then again, I was 9 and I had no money. I would've got it just for the cover.

(...I can't believe it...records on the shelves...it was only 1989...I can't fathom it...yeah, I know I'm "only" 24...but I feel I've seen way too many changes already...)

I know what you mean Maesters. I was a slow convert to CDs. Refused to buy them until '91, and then only reluctantly, when vinyl began quickly disappearing.

My big let down with RARITIES was that they gave us the common version of I'M ONLY SLEEPING by mistake. The liner notes stated it was the version with the verses in a different order and different backward guitar sounds, but it wasn't.

IOS WAS a different version...remember..this was before the US got the British versions of the original catalogue...so it was new at the time to people in the US.
