Have the rest of you noticed, on John's Rock & Roll album, that when he covers "You Can't Catch Me", the arrangement is like Come Together? Do you think this is a little tip of the hat to when John originally wrote CT, Paul said it sounded too much like YCCM, and so he rearranged it to get it all "swampy" as he put it?

I heard Chuck Berry actually got pissed off because Come Together was too much like YCCM. He then covered YCCM as a way to say sorry, I guess.
The swampy CT is much better than the YCCM'y CT would have been.

I guess Lennon tried to do a tribute, and I think that the CT's chords are a bit similar to YCCM's chords(only the 1st part). But anyway, the recording company(I don't remmember which) that have the song's rights sued him.

Well, however it happened, John's cover of YCCM has an arrangement very much like CT, and it can't be coincidence, with the initial similarities

i read in a book that john deliberately made the song "you cant catch me" sound like "come together" because he got pissed of by the man who owned the rights to these songs named Morris Levy. he's the same man who released the same album titled "roots" in the form of mail order.

The songs in the album are ok, but I like the album cover more. Vintage Lennon, full of spirit and ambition. Thanks Astrid for that shot.

I was listening to Paul's Russian album the other day whilst sorting out my paper work in preparation for my tax returns and I must say I like it much better now than when I first bought it. His version of summertime and crackin' up are my faves. His vocals are abit up and down compared to RDR though. Also it has a much 'cleaner' sounding production than RDR.
