Sadly, I do not know the origins of the word "nobble". But I'm sure you have worked out its meaning - "do something nasty to for whatever purpose". It could mean to capture someone/thing, or remove some opposition, maybe poison a person . . . you get the idea. I of course am using it in terms of the kidnapping sense above. It's quite a generalised word, basically, which can have many applications

Goofy? I take offence! Hell, I think I'll even take your gate for that, too! Not to mention all your doors and windows . . .

What accent? I am southern born and northern bred, which has over the years neutralised any accent I have! So there!

So you're trying to tell me that if you came over here to The States, I'd have no idea you're from the UK? Double Blarney!! Or are you saying by UK standards you don't have an accent?

I mean by UK standards - of course you could tell that I'm British, as I don't hit my "r"s over the head with a sledgehammer, as you folks in the USA do (for instance). But my voice has no regional inflection in terms of "you couldn't tell where in England I come from by listening to me".

Ok, got ya. And as for "hitting our r's over the head with a sledgehammer", we just like hitting our BRITS over the head with a sledgehammer before we cook 'em in our Brit stew!!
