Let Me Roll It

Postby karly » Tue Jun 18, 2002 2:24 pm

I think this song is brilliant...Very lennonesque IMO...no here's the question:

is it a bash or a tribute?

A tribute---I truly believe that--

I don't understand. Why would you think Paul was trying to bash OR tribute John with 'Let Me Roll It'?

because I personally think the music and the lyrical patterns are more 'john' than 'paul'...do you understand? so it's either a tribute or a bash....or I guess you could call it an influence....who knows? just wondering what you all thought...
I go back and forth on the issue....listen to it and see what you think

Many regular people and critics alike have thought that it's a tribute to Lennon's vocal style of the period (Roy Carr for one). Paul has remained above it---but i have never really heard anyone saying it was a "bash". I think it's a hats off to JL. But that's only my opinion---I could be wrong :)

good to hear an honest answer! I have heard quite a few poeple say it was a bash....as I said earlier I go back and forth....i will go listen to it today and decided what I think....

also I think it could be paul extending a 'truce' and hoping john would accept....of course...that could be coming from deep left field!

I think this song is terribly boring. It has a good guitar riff, but it just goes on and on too long. Only song on BOTR and WOA that I skip.

I don't think it's either a tribute or a bash. Paul said he didn't write it to be lennonesque. Only when people said it was lennonesque, he noticed it.
