If I may...
atta boy is old American slang.
Means: That's a boy!
Kind of like: Good for you or you go boy or horray for you.
Some of these American slang things are just wierd.
Some young people I work with have been teaching me some new ones: Tight means cool or very good.
It's a miracle that anyone can speak or read English and of course, American English is really dumb. You can have six words for one thing.
Or the same word can mean different things like: to, too and two. LOL[:D]

I have many funny stories, Nito, about the same subject, with my daughter-in-law. They are priceless. One does not realize how much slang they use until they are around someone who is new to that person's language and has learned it formally.

WAD Steve, it's too different learning a language formally than living and staying with people of that language. It's funny when you wanna talk or hear anything and both sides misunderstand things are talked. It's like we're in a "Tower of Babel". LOL[:D]

Peace.
