Beatles vs Stones

I never liked the debate because i always thought the Beatles were way more innovative and way more intellectual in terms of lyrics and arrangement. I must admit though - i do think the Stones material does stand up very well next to the Beatles stuff. Granted - it's still derivative - but you pull all those great Stones 60's tracks on a CD and line em up against the red and blue albums of the Beatles - and while the Stones are still second - they have some songs that make you say - not off by much from the Lennon-McCartney stuff.
