Oasis, The 90's Beatles(?)

Hey, if there's bands out there making good music that sounds like The Beatles then I'm all for it as unsurprisingly that's the type of music I like. Both Oasis and REM have made some pretty good stuff (great in some cases) and the only irritation is being compared to The Beatles. Avoid these comparisons and ignore the pretentious waffle from all bands these days and enjoy some nice music when you can. There's an awful lot of utter crap in the charts and we should be grateful for bands who still care about making good music.

Bravo. Well said, SkyJude. By the way, Paul even said himself (during his 1997 VH1 Town Hall Meeting), that he himself likes Oasis. He said that if anybody is gonna copy someone elses music, at least they're copying his! I think Oasis rather flatter him.

While we're talking about REM I need to vent my anger at REM's lead singer for a comment he made some time ago. I forgot what magazine or newspaper it was, but it dealt with the influence of the Beatles on modern day artists. REM's lead singer (the bald headed guy) snorted "who the f*** are the Beatles?", implying that they weren't all that significant as an influence.
So, in response to that remark, I can only say, "Who the f*** is REM and who the f*** is the arrogant bald headed lead singer?"

Quite! The Beatles are an act that you can't make fun of - if you wish to regard yourself as a fully-fledged (sane) member of the human race.

Jett Ryder: It was Rolling Stone magazine. See my post under this topic. It's the same article I was alluding to.

Now you mention it, Ram1, it does sound familiar . . .

Liam Gallagher....I agree with *our* Liam...he tries WAY too hard to be like Lennon, and doesn't come close. In fact, at times it's almost laughable

His son's name is Lennon Gallagher...

I find it amusing when people who are fanatical about celebrities go and name their children after them in part of full....lol.

By the way, I have two dogs. I'm thinking of renaming them...uhh...
..let's see....how about JET and MARTHA....NOT!...LOL
