The interesting thing about Rap is that anyone can do it in 5 seconds.
It does not require any talent or musicianship.
You don't have to have any songwriting ability whatsoever.
It's even easier than Punk and a lot more boring.
At least Punk was exciting.
I disagree. I'm not a huge lover of rap, but it does take talent. At least, it shows in the more talented rappers. I have to agree with Brains. Eminem is one talented dude. I've listened closely to his lyrics, and I finally saw what all the fuss is about. The dude can really write. Seriously. And as far as rappers go, he is an excellent rapper. Have you ever tried rapping a song? I mean REALLY tried? It's actually very complicated. Especially songs like Eminem's. So yeah, it definitely takes talent. Am I fan? It depends on the artist, but not really.
I must say, I'm not generally very keen on rap, but at times there can be some clever rap songs out there - notably "Walk This Way" by Run-DMC, featuring Aerosmith. Actually, ten years ago, some of my colleagues and I in school did a rap about pollution, and it went down a treat in class. I think we'd all been asked to get into groups and do poems on the subject, and we went one better. Ah, you could tell even then that music was a passion . . . [8D]
