I've often wondered why exactly Paul decided upon doing a "vocal bass" on this instead of using an actual bass guitar. Did he record the "vocal bass" part on the master to get an idea how the bass line should sound with the intention of adding a real bass afterward? If this is the case he obviously thought his voice was good enough for the final mix.
