I can't speak for Scrod personally, Brains, but the area where she lives is pretty rural, to say the least.

I live about 10 miles from an indian reservation. The native americans in the area have depended on hunting for food for hundreds of years and they still hold those traditions today and many of them don't have a lot of money and it is a cheap way to feed their family. Yes, we have many supermarkets up here. Also, our deer population is tremendous and if the herd is not thinned out some then the motor vehicle vs. deer accidents are tremendous. I hit a deer once and I thank god that I had my firearm with me to put that poor creature out of it's misery.

Yeah, I gotta say, I'm a softy when it comes to deer. I know I'm a meat eater, but whenever I see a deer, I just melt. I guess it's mostly because we have a family of deer that come in our yard pretty much everyday. Man, they're so beautiful. They'll look right at us too. It's cute because they have many of the same mannerisms as dogs. They wag their tails and lick their chops and scratch themselves with their hind legs and everything. It's pretty cool. And whenever a new fawn is born that can hardly even walk yet, oh man, cute isn't even the word.

Ya, I had a hard time after that incident for a while. My little dog looks just like a deer, same color and everything. Are the deer down there very big? they get up to 275 pounds up here.

Yeah, Scrod. We get some fairly big ones. Sometimes we'll get 6 or 8-point bucks in our yard.
