FAVE SONG ON EACH PAUL ALBUM

Postby Mattal1958 » Sat Mar 08, 2014 7:34 am

OK, I'm sure this thread exists somewhere, but I'm too lazy to go and look for it.

If you had to pick a favorite track on each of Paul's solo albums (including Wings, btw), which ones would you pick?

McCARTNEY- Every Night
RAM- 3 Legs
WILD LIFE- Some People Never Know
RED ROSE SPEEDWAY- Single Pigeon
BAND ON THE RUN- Helen Wheels (original US version); Mamunia (original British version)
McGEAR***- Leave It
VENUS & MARS- Listen To What The Man Said
SPEED OF SOUND- San Ferry Anne
LONDON TOWN- Name & Address
BACK TO THE EGG- After The Ball/Million Miles
McCARTNEY II- One Of These Days
TUG OF WAR- title track
PIPES OF PEACE- title track
GIVE MY REGARDS TO BROAD STREET- No Values
PRESS TO PLAY- Stranglehold
THE RUSSIAN ALBUM- Lawdy Miss Clawdy
FLOWERS IN THE DIRT- Put It There
OFF THE GROUND- Winedark Open Sea
FLAMING PIE- Litte Willow
RUN DEVIL RUN- What It Is
DRIVING RAIN- About You
CHAOS & CREATION IN THE BACK YARD- Follow Me/Riding To Vanity Fair (tie)
MEMORY ALMOST FULL- Vintage Clothes
ELECTRIC ARGUMENTS- Sing The Changes
KISSES ON THE BOTTOM-- Ac-cent-tchu-ate The Positive
NEW- Early Days

(*** yes, I know...it's his brother's album...but, it's nearly a Paul solo album, too)

If I forgot an album (not including Best Of's, or live albums here), my apologies...but I think I got 'em all!

I LOVE reading all the responses! Many of you have picked second favorite songs of mine from those albums...or the same ones...and the ones that are completely off my radar, I also find fascinating.

I DID forget to list KISSES ON THE BOTTOM initially, but I've rectified that. Sorry to throw a couple of you off by doing that.

I made a playlist for my IPOD of my choices and listened to them, in order, in my car today...during several short drives here and there, picking up where I had left off on the previous drive. Got through the whole list, which clocked in at over 80 minutes (just a bit longer than a full length CD). Didn't think I drove that much today, since it was all local driving to work, to the store, to go here and there...but not everywhere.

What I should do is make playlists of the other lists you've all made...listen to THEM, too, and hear how they sound. ANY of these lists would be fun to listen to.

WATSOS - warm and beautiful
WOA - soily
Wings Greatest - mull of kintyre
LT - don't let it bring you down
BTTE - old siam, sir
M2 - check my machine

RDR - no other baby
DR - lonely road

KOTB - my valentine
NEW - appreciate

i purposely did not look at the other lists...i'm appreciative of the fact that matts used the specific word "fave" as i feel a definitive argument could be made, even by me, that there are better songs off each of these albums...in nearly every instance...and it made my happy lil' heart sing to see his OP included 'mcgear' :-D

...now...i'm gonna go read all those lists...

MR. H, you really took this ball and ran with it! Great list! Only agree on 3-4 songs, I think, but, you "got it"-- not the BEST song (or songs) on the album-- your FAVORITE songs on the album.

I.E., I KNOW "Maybe I'm Amazed" is the best song on McCARTNEY. Or, that's my take, and I think most of us would agree. But, it's not my favorite. I love it, but I tend to go to "Every Night" more often.

Take the WHITE ALBUM. My favorite song on that one-- the one I find myself playing all the time-- is "Everybody's Got Something To Hide Except Me And My Monkey." Is that the BEST song on that album? Far from it. It's just the one I LOVE to hear. The one I'll hit the REPLAY button for.

thanks, matts...once i saw that 'fave', i knew i...

A) did NOT want to even glance at the lists, for i didn't wish to be overly influenced by all you fine, smart folk...and...

b) it would be one mighty difficult task...

for instance, you may very well be right about MIA vs any other song...but, i thought (going by your word choice), what song do i look forward to the most...like you said, which one might i more often hit replay...and, off M1 ?? it is more often my pick or kreen akrore...which, though often panned, is, for me, one spiffy little grin raiser and a near perfect album closer !!

and too, too many of these albums had several of those...ram !! fer gosh sakes...3 legs...too many people...UA & AH !!!!

BOTR could've just as easily been mamunia...

M2 wasthisclose betwix coming up and darkroom and one of these days, bogey music ?!?!

...LT ?? probably woulda gone w/girls school, but it wasn't on the album proper...but, still, there were several to have to choose from...

...FITD ?? it was right down to my pick and the title track...heck...if flying to my home had been an official track ?? who the heck knows what i'd've done !!

prolly 'sploded

8-} ...gotta stop this thaing or i'll keep going...

RDR ??!! why...why not the title track !!

SEE !!!
