love about you...and loup...and monkberry moon delight.

but man we was lonely always made my eyeball twinge a bit. never cared for freedom. about half of pipes of peace.

thing is...even when he does a song i don't much care for...there are usually a few redeeming parts of those very same songs i do like. so...it's hard to build too much hatred against anything he does.
I want to tell her that I love her a lot, but I got to get a belly full of wine.

TOP 10 WORST MACCA SONGS*
*not including obvious one-offs (Rudolf the Red Nosed Reggae) or 12" single/dance mixes

Criteria:
The more ambitious the song = the greater its failure and thus its ranking on this list

9. Mumbo (WL)
8. The Other Me (POP)
7. Talk More Talk (PTP)
6. Famous Groupies (LT)
5. After the Ball (BTTE)
4. Bip Bop (WL)
3. Loup (RRS)
2. Bogey Music (M2)
1. Kreen-Akrore (McC)

pretty good "bad" list, JGKOJAK.

Aside from "After The Ball," and "Mumbo," I can't argue with your choices.

"Mumbo," to me, is a rock version of jazz scat singing. At least, that's how I interpret it. Plus, Macca and the band play the hell out of it.

i, however, can..and, more importantly, would...

most of those are, imho, pretty successful in what they clearly set out to do...which was not to create or set a new paradigm of songwriting...but, rather, to exist as individual pieces of creative, inventive art endowed, as they are, by their creator as motiffs of a momentary flight of musical fancy...

there's not a single song on that list that i'd even think about leaving off an album...they are, imho, as integral to the life and fiber, the ebb and artistic flow of their respective albums as the best songs off those same albums...

i fully realize that no one is suggesting that any song be stricken off a record, nor that the reason for such lists is to define a better album...but as far as each of those songs are concerned their respective albums, from which each dwell, would be far more boring...far more unadventurous if not for thier inclusion in those set lists'

and, for the record ??

...almost every song is a 'one-off'

McCartney's worst "tracks"* PERIOD
*excluding extended dance mixes-tracks released as parts of albums or as b-sides

1. Rudolf the Red Nosed Reggae- really? Wings couldn't sing Frosty the Snowman or something, or even be bothered to sing Rudolf for the x-mas b-side? He even had Same Time Next Year waiting in the can, a semi-appropriate New Years' song.

2. Frozen Jap- borderline racist. Just a horrendous, awful and embarrassing song.

3. Kreen Akrore- I get the experiment, but if your message is "hey, I can play drums too" make sure you play them WELL.

4. Bip Bop- As a 1 minute segment (like Dig It or Can You Take Me Back?) that leaves us wanting more, I could dig it. But really, the 2nd track of your band's debut album?

5. Tug of Peace- ouch. There is no reason for this to exist. (OK, a b-side, fine).

6. The Man- didn't make worst songs list because Macca didn't write it himself, this is treacle even compared to the worst on a Michael Jackson album.

7. Loup- borderline racist. Again.

8. Silly Love Songs remake (Broadstreet)- This is just really bad, and in very poor taste - taking everything cool about the original and turning it into 80s drech.

9. The Long and Winding Road (Broadstreet)- And he was mad at Phil Spector for ruining this song?

10. The Broadcast- and now to interrupt our perfectly find rock n roll record

...i'm thinking that if 'loup...' and 'frozen...' had different titles, no one would think they were borderline racist in the slightest...neither 'sound' at all like racist material...both are rather bouyant, upbeat, poppish instrumentals...

sad to say i can't agree with your assesments on them, KA nor 'bip bop', JG...all are, for me, truly effective, creative pieces...

for that matter...while i can't stand the slowdownthewholeflowofthealbum medley off BTTE most days...i've always loved 'the broadcast' right where it is..

but, then again....i'm one quayzee, offbeat kat

the rest ??

yeah.. i pretty much agree
