God, I adore that song. Would be in my post-Anthology top ten for sure.

It's so weird how a load of people who think a particular artist is fantastic can have such different opinions on his best/worst songs :-D

Re: James1985 list--

How Many People-- bland (** stars)
Biker Like An Icon-- really bad lyrics (* star)
The Man-- better than the other one from that album, "Say Say Say," and light years better than "The Girl Is Mine." Good song. (*** stars)
Name and Address-- FANTASTIC Sun Era nod to Elvis. One of my favorite Paul solo songs. (***** stars).
Famous Groupies-- not a great song, but not bad, either. (** stars)
Ebs and Ives-- yeah...I guess it works as a children's song, which I think was the idea. At least I HOPE it was the idea! (** stars)
Spies Like Us (probably the worst of all!)-- kinda like this one. Love the manic ending (*** stars)
Off The Ground-- had potential...the live version he did for the MTV Special at the Ed Sullivan theater in the early/mid 90's was really great. (** stars).
Zzzzzzzzzsan Ferry Anne-- one of my favorite Paul ballads. (*** stars)
Average Person-- agree. Not good. (* star)

The thing is, James...by you saying these are his ten WORST songs, you are also saying they are even worse than--

Kreene Akrore
I Am Your Singer
Loup (1st Indian On The Moon)
The Broadcast (completely baffling)
Frozen Jap (just by virtue of the title)
Bogey Music

How is this humanly possible? :)

easily...i LOVE KA...simpy adore beyond words the Bogey Music ...and, for the record, i believe one simply cannot be considered to be a truly sentient creature unless one luvs the monkberry...TRUE STORY !!

a songs that i fairly regularly skip over are...

off WL...mary had a Little Lamb
off V&M...crossroads
off WATSOS...San Ferry Anne, Walking In The Park and Bridge on the River Suite
off BTTE...Rudolf the Rednosed Reggae
off TOW..once in awhile, but not always...E&I
off POP...pretty much everything from track #9 on
off GMRTB...depending on my tolerance that day, pretty much half the album...the only ones that always get played are the new ones and Big BD
off PTP...Tough on a Tightrope and Once Upon a Long Ago
off OTG...Golden Earth Girl
off FP...once in a while, i just can't hack Really Love You

...BUT...the only truly dreadful song he's ever been involved with is...with %100 certainty...DANCE THE DO
lift up your head...and remember what your life is !

I quite like 10-14 0f Pipes of Peace. Also, I love "San Ferry Anne".

I actually LOVE "Mary Had A Little Lamb," because of the arrangement, the melody, and the sweet sentiment (obviously, taken from the nursery rhyme almost verbatim). Whether or not he recorded it as a response to the BBC banning "Hi, Hi, HI" or not, the result is a sweet, beautiful sounding song that, when it comes up on one of my Paul playlists, I enjoy hearing AND singing along to.

So there! :):):)

I guess we just have to agree to disagree on these things.

We ALL agree Macca is a genius, though, otherwise we wouldn't be on these pages.

well...matts... ~X( i agree to disagree with your agreement to disagree even though to disagree agreeably might perchance seem to disagree with my agreement !!

furthermore...i disagree that you can agree with my agreement (or...my disgreement) because i'm not even sure that i agree with my disagreement over your agreement or reversal thereof !

lastly, matts (he says...agreeably !) i can't agree to disagree over things that are not agreed to in at least triplicate and, as such, i'm in total agreement to disagree agreeably !!

:-D
