The Cure

Postby UsagiAndMamoru » Tue Sep 12, 2006 6:47 pm

I never really liked The Cure in the past, but lately, they've been one of my favorite groups. The only CDs I have right now though are "The Top" and "Staring At The Sea". The former is the original pressing from Sire Records, and I plan to get the reissue by Rhino too, because I worry about playing that one too much. So far, I love:

The Love Cats

Usagi,

Judging from some of your playlists and other bands that you've mentioned, I think you would really like the album The Head on the Door. It's one of their most pop-oriented albums. "In Between Days," "Six Different Ways," and "Close to Me" are my favorites from this album. Also, Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss Me is a great one. ("Why Can't I Be You" and "Just Like Heaven" are probably the two best-known songs from that album - the video to "Why Can't I Be You" is awesome)

I like some of their darker albums, but my favorite stuff is still their more pop-oriented work. I know that doesn't make me a true Cure fan to some folks, but screw them. [/i]
And in the end...

highly underrated band...nothing but great albums...tons of great songs, including and maybe especially the non-singles album, tracks; deep, rich stuff there...as well as a lot more light fare they are not really well known for...

been listening since '17 seconds' ...and have never really come close to being disappointed.

while some albums are weaker ('WMS'...maybe '4:13')...but even a weak Cure album is far better, more intriguing than most peoples good records.

personally think the eponymous 'the cure' is highly underrated by some fans...

top picks album wise: pornography, disintegration, THOTD, wish, bloodflowers

love the pop stuff evry bit as much as the dark stuff...imho, i just don't see how one could possibly claim to be a real Cure fan if you don't get that each is an important part of Smith & co.

Absolutely, it's my favourite of their albums, no filler at all.

one mans 'filler', oobs, is anothers romp into fun...

...and speaking of that...i've sort of rediscovered 'kiss me, kiss me, kiss me'...it's like...THOTD on steroids

on a seperate note...i've always had the same sort of off-the-wall vibe off 'the top' that i get off 'mccartney2'..the sort that goes "what were they thinking ?"

yet another aside: they, along the ever-willing tim pope, created some of the most outlandish videos about

now...if RS would release both 'in orange' and the 'reflections' shows on bluray...i'd be a mighty happy camper

...and the 'dark side' of 4:13

heck...a new album, with reeves playing would be nice, too
