Nice summary, Little Lamb. Definitely his "next step" after ELECTRIC ARGUMENTS.
Can't make up my mind on "On My Way To Work." At times, I like it. Or large sections of it. Then, there are times I think it is dreary and repetitive with that assembly line sounding percussion.
However, as I think I may have mentioned in my review (all those days ago), that assembly line sound might be INTENTIONAL, as part of the atmosphere of, you know, going to WORK. And, it can actually sound hypnotic when one is in the right frame of mind. Or wrong frame of mind. Or some kind of frame of mind.
And, then, I start reading probably way too much into it, thinking Paul is trying to write about how our humdrum, every day lives clash with our dreams, and our questions on what it's all about. As in, "in years to come/they may discover/what the air we breathe and the life we lead are all about/but, it won't be soon enough for me."
Of course, then I think, nah...it's just a pop song. It's NOT THAT DEEP!
I'm still on the fence...
