Turned out is a blast fun and immediate powerpop with one of those magic Maccamoments-the pianodriven part in the middle. Have the feeling of Ram if you ask me But defitively 2013.

even this snarky little review by New Musical Express begrudgingly gives Paul a (mostly) thumbs up, and a 7/10:

MHNSO, that Washington Post review sums up what I've heard so far (and what I'm listening to this morning before heading out to work) better than any review I've read yet. That person NAILS it, I think.

BTW...Why in God's name did "Turned Out" NOT make the original 12 track album? That's INSANE! This is one of the most instantly catchy, power/pop songs he's done in YEARS. This, and I CAN BET shows how good this guy is at writing this kind of thing...and which I wish he'd done more of the last 15-20 years. Combo of "Sweet Sweet Memories" and "My Brave Face" but with more b***s.

Can't wait to give this a proper listen tonight. Luckily, I've taken tomorrow off, so I will be playing this album to my heart's content. Tomorrow I'll have a better grasp on the whole album. At least immediate grasp.

i've been staying away from all these...not becasue they might taint how i think...but because i wanted to let some of the steam out of the pot, so to say...

the expectations were getting humongous with all these glowing rewiews

listening now...to the music...i'll let that speak for awhile :ymapplause:
