The reviews start to come mostly favorable-maybe this goes for a thread of it s own., think mojo called it Pauls best in decades gave it 4/5 score, Uncut mentioned some of the tracks as really great gave the score 7/10
Here is one favorable from omething Else - well written and positive. However they dismiss Everybody out there a bit-I don t it s a great track
Something else generally positive review
New might be the ultimate misnomer, so often does Paul McCartney reference his iconic musical past. Yet his long-awaited return to popcraft is not without its fresh intrigues.

New, for instance, starts with the stomping pop-rock anthem “Save Us,” an interesting twist on the love songs he wrote for the late Linda McCartney, which rarely betrayed any conflict at all — beyond the sorry-I-screwed-up-dear variety. After her passing, and in particular through the ugly split with Heather Mills, however, Paul has brushed his narratives with deeper colors, and “Save Us” (which features, at its center, a howling cry for something to hold onto as the winds of change whip us around) continues this intriguing late-career trend.

Riffy and propulsive, the song eventually collapses into a heap — and not for the first time does the mind turn to McCartney’s time with the Beatles. After decades of musical attempts to set himself apart, and concerts that onlyreferenced his former band in passing, McCartney has more recently finally (mercifully, in some cases) given up on chasing the trends of the day and returned to the sounds (and the songs) that helped build the foundation of his legend.

In keeping, the advance title track (which unfolds almost like a canny mashup of “Got To Get You In My Life” along with “Penny Lane”) isn’t the only a sun-streaked affirmation of everything that once — and still does — make Paul McCartney great. There’s also “Queenie Eye.” One of this set’s strongest efforts, it boasts a ruminative orchestral opening, the fizzy word play, nervy grooves and a processed vocal that point like a streaking arrow back to his late 1960s successes with George Martin and the rest of the Beatles. When the song comes to a momentary pause, it’s as if the dream-state reverie is complete. Then, and this is a sign of just how confident this McCartney album is, he does what every Beatles trope says he should do: Start all over again, with a swirling chorus of vocals, a banging piano and a second sudden stop.

Maybe the thing that’s newest about New — due via Hear Music on October 14, 2013 in the UK, and October 15, 2013 in the U.S. — is how comfortable McCartney seems in his own skin again.
The trick, of course, would be in approaching this subject matter not just as a musical theme, but as a compositional subject. “Early Days,” as its title suggests, finds McCartney surveying long-ago times in a frayed upper register, but largely alone alongside a brittle guitar riff. In keeping it simple this time, McCartney recalls the straight-forward joys of similarly ruminative solo tracks like “Here Today” and “The Song We Were Singing” — but with an even sharper narrative eye. He walks a very fine line here, risking much, and gets to the other side with acrobatic skill.

Is it a perfect record? Not quite. “Everybody Out There,” though presented with a much leaner attitude, is interchangeable with any of the other largely forgettable self-empowerment/eco-friendly bromides that dotted, say, 1993′s Off the Ground. Still, when McCartney comes crashing forward with a perfectly attenuated rocker like “I Can Bet” — winkingly offering: “what I’m going to do next, I’ll leave entirely to your imagination” — it’s clear that he’s put out a better album than many might have expected at this late date.

And he’s done it by never sounding more like himself.

I believe ET gave an A- to the New single...

calling his 16th solo album New, Paul McCartney is celebrating his fresh attitude rather than a change of musical direction. Though they’re produced by men young enough to be his sons, these 12 songs are vintage Macca: jaunty, melodic and occasionally whimsical with underlying twists of lyrical anger. His 2011 marriage to Nancy Shevell has clearly re-energised him.
Whereas his last collection of original songs, 2007’s Memory Almost Full (released shortly before his acrimonious divorce from Heather Mills) saw him in reflective mood, and 2012’s standards album Kisses on the Bottom saw him romancing his new love with the songs of his childhood, this record finds him firing off peppy electric riffs and looking to the future, teasing his audience with lines like: “What I’m gonna do next I’ll leave entirely to your imagination…”
The four producers who contributed to New are Mark Ronson (who collaborated most famously with Amy Winehouse), Paul Epworth (Adele), Ethan Johns (Laura Marling, Kings of Leon) and the son of “fifth Beatle” George Martin, Giles. They all bring their own styles to McCartney’s unmistakable sound.
The bombastically poppy and retro-leaning Ronson (who was DJ at McCartney and Shevell’s wedding) helms two songs, adding his trademark swaggering horn section to first single New. Like a jolly thumbs up from the past, it sounds like a remade Beatles track, with harpsichord flourishes, stomping 4/4 beat, cute melody and a breezy falsetto chorus of “ooo”s. McCartney fans are going to love it: it’s all so tidily resolved. Detractors will hate it for the same reason: it’s too tidily resolved. Ronson adds a grittier tone to the raunchier second number which sees McCartney in search of “a sweet communicator I can give my alligator to”.
Epworth does sterling service on the angry fairground ride that is Queenie Eye. There are echoes of I am the Walrus in the song’s driven stamp and paisley drum rolls, while you wonder whether McCartney’s lyrics about someone who’s been making up stories and “putting it about” are a reference to Mills. Given the financial wrangling in their divorce it’s not hard to imagine he’s thinking of her when he shouts: “I haven’t got it/ It isn’t in my pocket!”
Martin gives a trip-hop twist to Appreciate which finds McCartney conjuring up the free-floating mood of The Fool on the Hill but given a darker, urban edge. It’s like hearing a vinyl record played backwards on an iPhone. By contrast, the chugging familiarity of I Can Bet is pure Wings.
Ethan Johns is more interested in stripping the old rocker back to basics. His croaky and wandering vocal is left movingly exposed and vulnerable on Early Days, as he remembers being one of two guys wandering the streets dressed in black, guitars on their backs. It’s a memory we all want to hear about, so it’s strange that a brittle McCartney should then sing that “they can’t take it from me, if they tried/ I lived through those early days”. Surely nobody would deny that his durable style was once gloriously new? He needn’t be so defensive, or so concerned about detractors – this album proves his talent is timeless

Actually the buggers on the Guardian only gave the album 3/5 don t bother to pst s-t like that.

Could be dunno really. Rumour is that Rolling Stone give it 4 stars. They save their fivers for dylan and springsteen as usual. still this album get s so far very good to great reviews
