US Columbia Releases

Postby cd1500rpm » Sat Nov 10, 2012 12:35 am

Does anyone know if Paul's U.S. album releases on the Columbia label ever made it to reel to reel? Columbia House was still putting out the reel to reel format in the early 80's but I've never seen Tug Of War, Pipes Of Peace or McCartney II on open reel.

As far as I know- no. The one and only Macca reel-to-reel released in the eighties is a promo for Give My Regards to Broadstreet. This "audio press kit" consists of Paul talking about the movie and a musical montage of 4 tracks from the soundtrack. And this lovely piece of history can be yours for a mere $150, if you can find it. No Beatles or solo Beatles was released on reel-to-reel after 1971, unless you count the 1973 soundtrack for Live and Let Die and the aforementioned Broadstreet promo.
