Live and Let Die named best Bond theme

Postby tristanjblythe » Mon Sep 17, 2012 3:29 am

In the year that celebrates 50 years since the first Bond movie and Beatles album here some nice news. I think the top two are right - they are the ones that stand up as songs in their own right.

couldn't agree more...

i remember very clearly L&LD in the theaters...it was my first in-the-theater Bond...

the opening scenes of death and mayhem, for a little, impressionable kid, was pretty thrilling

i knew there was a new guy playing Bond..but, going in...it was OK: he once was The Saint, right ?

and then paul began singing...yup...that set sail the boat that has floated all this time...
lift up your head...and remember what your life is !

Live and let die is one of Pauls finest musical moments. I bought the single - I think even before the movie-still has it somewhere. It s a piece that one musician friend of mine once said is "filled with musical intelligence". The movie is entertaining to even though I personally prefer Sean Connery as James Bond

It certainly runs rings around the License To Kill theme song. :-)
