one of my all time favorite musicians and just a hell of a nice guy
there has been (are) some great singer/drummers out there but to me levon was the best
he was also a great mandolin player among other things

i was lucky enough to have seen him live during ringo's very first (and best) incarnation of ringo's all starr band. levon got nearly as big a hand as ringo did, and he'd have deserved just as much. awesome...just awesome.

Saw one of his last performances here in his home state of Arkansas a couple of years ago. His voice had been shot from cancer but his drumming was as amazing as ever. His spirit was even more incredible. Everybody in the band just fed off of his energy and enthusiasm for the music being played. One guy in the audience yelled, "You're my hero Levon!" at the end of the show. He just turned and bowed gracefully then exited the stage. I will never forget that moment.

Arkansas Governor Mike Beebe has ordered all state flags fly at half staff on Friday in Levon's honor. Gone but never forgotten...
