New McCartney album, "My Valentine", scheduled for Feb 7

Personally, I'm very excited. I'm rarely disappointed in the man, so I'm betting it's going to be great. I'm not at all disappointed in the type of music it may be, cause our kid has a certain knack, you know? I mean, most of us probably like And I Love Her, When I'm sixty-four, Yesterday, Distractions and so on...there are similar types of songs already in his catalog and I love 'em all, so all I can say is...bring it on!

efghij, you have a point. we already do like songs by paul like that. he's always done them. and he's always done them pretty well. but...what makes this one different...is a normal paul album will have these waltzy, jazzy, ballady type of songs...and some rockers, maybe a reggae tinged tune, a whimsical odd tune and maybe an instrumental or two. so...we'll see. however, i am overwhelmingly in approval of his albums as opposed to not approving. so, i expect an album of well crafted, well played and well sung songs. it is our paulie, after all. we all know how one of his songs can get stuck in our head for days or weeks. i expect nothing but greatness from the man who has given us so much of it in the past.

My thoughts on this album are mediocre. Of course I would listen this album and even buy it. But why reord something like this.
Is Macca buying some time because he hasn´t written new songs??

Paul has 3 times as many unfinished or unreleased songs than he has officially released.....a lack of material would not be his motive on this one. I believe that he's releasing it because he enjoys the genre and it's good.

Everyone sitting down? Not holding anything that can spill? Not eating anything that you can choke on? Okay. If some of those songs are on the album, I might actually like it. There I said it! I might actually like it. I have been known to do and like stranger things. Okay. So the album might not be too bad afterall.

If this setlist is correct we are in for a real treat because he hasn t with a few exeptions choosen the most obvious songs. Personally I look forward to this album because I like this style and think it will fit Maccas voice like a glove. Evertything now depends on the arrangements I hope for an intimate jazzy setting with orchestrations and the occasional big band. No heavy beat or modernicing please. The first song I m gonna sit write down and write myself a letter(and make believe it came from you) is a great uptemposong from the thirties with a style that Macca himself copied on When Im sixtifour

Having just heard "My Valentine", one has to wonder why he didn't record this kind of stuff 20 or more years ago, when he had more range to his voice. These days he can barely croak his way through interviews. However, having said that, his voice is certainly stronger on this one but the song is pretty weak in my opinion.

Actually think the song is as cool as eff - maybe it was the one he wanted to write for Frank instead of Suicide. More power to the man - he has balls
