late to the party, eddie, but you're quite right... while i'm not enamored with the PJ cover, it packs more punch than the rather tired retread the fab four made.
having said that, i ought to point out that i am on record, somewhere around here (in the past: but i stick to it), as saying that the early beatle remakes are my least favorite of beatle tracks...
and PJ is one of my alltime favorites...so...
given the chance to see vedder & co. rock (ever more slightly) out with this chestnut (and, i might add, for a different reason/purpose: the beatle readings is a perfunctory '50's love song rehash...PJ's is as a bit of an anti-war ode) is always great music to my ears...
besides...after that, i got to just sit and watch through alot of the other PJ live bits off youtube...great stuff
