The song was slowed down after recording, which means in the studio Paul played that bassline even faster. What I love about Macca as a bassist is his obvious ability to go on improvised flashy flights of fancy (witness "I Want You (She's So Heavy)") but instead he just keeps it to an insanely good groove or melody which adds to the song so much.

Paul has been a total inspiration for me, not only in his songwriting, but how he took an instrument that was never the coolest instruments to play and turned it into a playful, creative, dancing instrument, contrapuntal lay meandering around the drum beats and complimenting the song overall. His style of playing gave the bass as an instrument a cool character.
