Excellent point, but I would like to add sometimes his stage personality makes you forget that as well. Maybe he is a nice guy in person but I have always disliked how he talks and acts publicly. Kind of a "I'm above you" vibe I've always gotten from him.
GJH- How did I forget Levon Helm! I might just have to change my vote for favorite.
James- Completely agree. Thom's antics and Johny's guitar playing always get the attention. But Radiohead's true power is in Phil & Colin. One of the best drummer/bass duos in rock music. First time I ever saw Radiohead live I just stood completely still- mesmerized by Phil's drumming.
And he's really versatile -- can do the big rock stuff, but also jazzy (Pyramid Song) and keep amazing time (Arpeggi). On In Rainbows, it's just such a rhythmic album, and it's Phil's album for me
