I bought the 2 cd/dvd edition today

This is my thoughts:

The sound! AWSOME! The album and the bonus tracks has never sounded better! Its like being in the same room as the band.
The sound on the One hand Clapping video is MONO,
But the audiotracks on the cd is STEREO and sounds fantastic!
(bluebird and Let me roll is especiallt is done in wonderful versions.)

The picture quality on OHC hasn´t been dealt with much though which was a bit dissapointing, they could have fixed that, it really shows its age but cool to have nontheless.

The Lagos footage is really cool but short (3 min or so)..
The music videos seems actually be in less good picture quality than on the McCartney years dvd. I could be wrong though.
Audio is stereo only, not in 5.1 surround mix.

One last thing... the deluxe edition comes with a flyer of sorts.. announcing fortcoming Archive versions of;
McCartney
McCartney 2
Ram
Venus & Mars
Speed of sound
Wings Over America.

All in all.. a fantastic package with fantastic sound, cool bonus features and a less than stellar picture.

Thanks a lot for your review!
Can you also specify the aspect ratio of video material? Is it in original 4:3 or in cropped 16:9 like in The McCartney Years DVD set?

If you get a chance, get it a Best Buy. It comes with a second DVD with 4 items on it:

1 - BOTR 2010 EPK (8:31)
2 - Jet (5:36)
3 - Mrs. Vanderbilt (5:13)
4 - BOTR (5:36)

I haven't watched it yet so I don't know if 2-4 are live performances, music promos, remixes, or something else.

In case anyone doesn't know, if you buy the album on Itunes, you get Band on the Run and No Words, from Last Flight. I don't know if you can put them on your iPod but you do get them as part of the little special features thing.
These are the days of miracle and wonder....

Think I'm going to pass on this re-re-release of Band On The Run. Looks like they did a swell job with these packages and remastering, but the new content isn't really grabbing me enough to want to purchase this one again. I'm more interested in the new release of Ram; never owned this album before but pretty much like everything I've listened to off of it.

Hi
Good to be back here after a few months away from it all. I bought this new rendition of BOTR not the deluxe set which is a bit pricey for a picturebook and a audiodisc I already own.
Must say that the sound is a real improvement and this comes from a nonaudiophile like me. The instruments are better separated the bass has more punch and the vocals are right there in your face. I also found the extrastuff good ecspecially the pianodriven version of 1985. This gives me great hope for the continuing remasterseries. I am ecspecially lokin forward to a makeover of RAM Pauls,my opnion, best album. Really hope for a twinpackage with Thrillington
