Well..we wouldn't be here on this forum, thats for sure. I also shudder to think of the direction popular music might have taken without them. Would we have had the lost tapes of Frankie Avalon to look forward to? LOL.

Actually, I remember being 11 and the teenager down the street from me taught me how to do the Locomotion (Little Eva), so that wasn't that bad. I remember being on the school bus Feb. 9 and there was a group of girls very excited behind me and I turned around in my seat and they were looking at a magazine with photos of the Beatles. First time I had ever heard of them. I thought, look at their hair! Amazing. In the summer I saw AHDN in the theatre down the street and I was hooked on that Lennon for the rest of my life.[:)]

Well, don't be sad, guys. Without The Beatles, there would be no Strawberry Fields / Penny Lane to be prevented from reaching No. 1. It could have been a back to back hits from Engelbert, Please Release Me at no. 1 and Green Green Grass of Home at no. 2.
