Without question. It has all the hallmarks of a great solo -- fabulous tone, memorable melody, appropriate texture, just the right length, etc. Right up there with George's "Something" solo, no doubt.

Although I never really got into Pink Floyd it would be hard to argue that this is definitely up there as one of the best. I can think of a few others that I prefer but not many.

tough to say which is best or not. as there are all types of solos and all types of moods to be in when you are listening to one. but that one certanly is a high point for the floyd. gilmore's overall vibe/groove/tone is incredible during the entire wall album.

but, i stated it before and i'm not backing down..gary moore, 'still got the blues', nuff said.

followed closely by prince 'purple rain'

..and i've grown very partial to warren (gov't mule) haynes 'beautifully broken' live, off 'the deepest end'

but, i'm sure there are about a billion more really great turns i've forgotten..or never heard...
