How was it?? I read that it was very dissapointed what George came up with. His voice was bad and he had rearranged many numbers!! Any good recordings from this tour?

I don't recall hearing anything from this tour, but I do remember hearing it was a disaster. It must have been awful. People so soon after the Beatles had broken up, would have been thrilled just to be in the presence of a Beatle.

The set list:
Hari's On Tour
Something
In My Life
Going Around In Circles(*)
Sue Me Sue You Blues
Zoon, Zoon, Zoon(***)
Na Na Dahni(***)
Cheparte(***)
Anurag(***)
which Ravi Shankar came onstage for, he had rejoined the tour.
I Am Missing You(***)
Dispute and Violence(***)
For You Blue
Give Me Love
Soundstage Of Mine
Maya Love
Tom Cat(**)
Dark Horse
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
Nothing From Nothing(*)
OuttaSpace(*)
What Is Life
My Sweet Lord
(*) by Billy Preston
(**) by Tom Scott
(***) by Ravi Shankar

That looks OK- but... In My Life? John was still alive then!

And really he only does half a dozen critical songs. The real problem is he changed a lot of the lyrics to be quasi religious AND had Ravi Shankar do a whole hour before the show and during the show. This really killed George's reputation in music circles and among fans.

And... Paul paid close attention and did not repeat any of George's mistakes when he toured a year later.

Funny. I recall george criticizing paul and HIS tours. Saying if you want to hear Beatle songs go see a Paul concert. But Paul made an effort to showcase his solo music, barely playing Beatle songs. Evidently George had a pickle up his arse.

A sample:

His voice is absolutely dreadful- he had a cold, quickly recorded the Dark Horse album, wrecked his voice even more, then went on tour-- and his voice was like this the entire tour. Dreadful.

And what is with the BELLS solo during For You Blue here??? ~X(

There's quite a bit on youtube, including an odd arrangement of In My Life.

I think this is a good contribution to the topic, here's the link to a great brazilian blog where you can download a november 1974 george's concert, directly from the soundboard.
Hope you like it....

Many of these shows were recorded in varying sound quality but the main problem with this show wasn't so much George's ailing voice, but the 25 minutes of Indian music slotted into the middle of the show. It kind of broke the continuity somewhat.

George should have just taken the financial loss of not finishing the album and the tour on time, and waited for his voice to recover. How could he do this to his fans?

I never listen to Shankar on The Concert for Bangladesh album. Why did he keep trying to cram Indian music down the fans throats?

Even the Apple Jam on All Things Must Pass is barely worth a listen one time. He makes people pay for music they don't really want just to listen to him.
